GOP: LOSING PRINCIPLE, LOSING AMERICA

The Party of Reagan is losing the country because it is no longer the party of the principles, policies and persona of Reagan, as applied to the problems of our time.

AMNESTY TRUTH SHEET

The Truth About Amnesty
Amnesty overlooks the alien's illegal entry and ongoing illegal presence and creates a new legal status that allows the recipient to live and work in the country.

U.S. Senate Bill 1348

Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007
The bill's sole sponsor in the Senate was Majority Leader Harry Reid, though it was crafted in large part as a result of previous efforts by Senators Kennedy and McCain. The failed bill would have provided legal status and a path to legal citizenship for approximately 12 million illegal aliens.

U.S. Senate Bill 1639

The Secure Borders, Economic Opportunity and Immigration
Reform Act of 2007

This is the "security-first" bill that was proposed by Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA), designed to draw more votes for comprehensive immigration reform. It failed a critical vote in the Senate.

McCain's Straight Talk Express Derailed

The Madness of John McCain

Justin Raimondo, The American Conservative

It is impossible to know what is in McCain’s heart. There may be a purely ideological explanation for his changing viewpoint. But what seems to account for his evolution from realism to hopped-up interventionism is nothing more than sheer ambition. This was the case in 1983, when he defied the Reagan administration over sending U.S. soldiers to die at the hands of a Beirut suicide bomber, and in 1999, when the cry went up to take on Slobodan Milosevic. He was positioning himself against his own party, while staking out a distinctive stance independent of the Democrats. It was, in short, an instance of a presidential candidate maneuvering himself to increase his appeal to the electorate — and, most importantly, the media. [ More ]

Top 10 Reasons
Not to Vote for McCain

Don Feder, Coldsteel Caucus Report

I just got back from the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., where conservatives began lining up behind a man who’s been sticking it to us for years. By a process of self-hypnosis, many have managed to convince themselves that McCain is actually one of us.

Not for nothing did Benjamin Disraeli call conservatives the stupid party.

What part of John McCain do we not get? McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Lieberman, McCain-Edwards -- among other socialist, anti-speech, open-borders, enviro-Marxist measures he’s co-sponsored with the hardcore left of the Democratic Party over the years.

If Il Duce had served with him in the United States Senate, there would be McCain-Mussolini.

The moment Mitt Romney “suspended” his campaign and McCain became inevitable, the squawking began: “You mean you’d actually prefer Hillary or Obama (judges)? At least McCain is pro-life (judges). He’s a war hero who’ll ably lead us in the War on Terrorism (judges). Did we mention that he’ll appoint conservative judges?”

Before the chorus of amnesiac Chicken Littles drowns out the voices of reason, here are 10 reasons why conservatives should sever their right hands at the wrist before they pull the McCain lever in November... [ More ]

McCain Wants You to Forget!

McCain's Record of Rewarding Illegal Aliens

Did He Really "Get the Message" After His Campaign's Near Death Experience?

According to research compiled by NumbersUSA and Congress Grades, nearly every time there is a choice, Sen. McCain favors business lobbyists’ desires for foreign workers vs. protecting American workers’ wages and jobs. View his voting record.

McCain’s hopes of giving permanent residency to millions of illegal aliens will saddle American taxpayers with huge costs. A 2007 Heritage Foundation study found that a household headed by the typical high-school-drop-out illegal alien costs taxpayers a net of about $20,000 for every year allowed to stay in this country.

McCain has taken the pro-amnesty position in nearly two dozen votes and co-sponsorships. View the long list.

For six years after the 9/11 attacks, McCain held our border security as a hostage to his desires for amnesty. He was willing to work to secure our borders and try to prevent illegal immigration ONLY if it was tied to providing permanent residency for illegal aliens already here.

For the last 2 years, John McCain and Ted Kennedy were the key leaders trying to ram a path to citizenship for millions of illegal aliens through Congress.

Sen. McCain claims it is not amnesty to give illegal aliens U.S. citizenship if they have to pay a fine and learn English. Whatever he chooses to call it, allowing illegal aliens to keep the very things they broke the law to obtain – U.S. residency and an American job – is an incredibly generous reward for violating the rule of law.

After his leadership for amnesties caused his Presidential campaign to collapse last spring, McCain said he “got the message” from the voters and no longer pushes rewarding illegal aliens ahead of everything else. He says he wants to secure our borders first. But he only promises to make 2 million of the 12-20 million illegal aliens go home.

Bottom line: McCain has the worst Republican platform for ending future illegal immigration.

Let's Closely Examine McCain's Record

Chris Field, Human Events

Following his wins in the South Carolina and Florida Republican primaries, Arizona Sen. John McCain has become the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination. He has spent the last year attempting to convince the conservative base of the Republican Party that he is one of them -- but his record in the Senate shows otherwise.

Most voters know about his anti-free speech McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform. His temper is legendary, and his mistreatment of conservatives and fellow Republicans has earned him accolades from the liberal media who lovingly refer to him as a “maverick.” And he suffered a blow to his campaign last summer after his second failed attempt to pass the McCain-Kennedy guest-worker/amnesty bill. But his apostasies go far beyond that into taxes, judges, life concerns, same-sex marriage, energy and other issues important to conservatives.

Here are some issues that many conservatives may have forgotten -- or never known -- about John McCain’s far-from-conservative record... [ More ]

The Great Betrayal

Patrick J. Buchanan

Offering more “straight talk” on the Sunday before the Florida primary, John McCain made an arresting prediction: “It’s a tough war we’re in. It’s not going to be over right away. There’s going to be other wars. I’m sorry to tell you, there’s going to be other wars. We will never surrender but there will be other wars.” Ike promised to “go to Korea” and ended that war. Nixon pledged to end Vietnam with honor. McCain says we may be in Iraq a hundred years and warns, “there’s going to be other wars.” Take the man at his word. Mimicking the Beach Boys’ “Barbara Ann,” McCain has joked about “Bomb, bomb, bomb—bomb, bomb Iran” and urged the expulsion of Russia from the G-8. He wants to expand NATO to bring in Georgia and the Ukraine. This could mean confrontation between Russia and the United States over whether South Ossetia and Abkhazia should be free of Georgia or ruled by Tbilisi, a matter of zero vital interest to this country. We are forewarned. John McCain intends to be a war president... [ More ]

RAMM SAYS 'NO' TO McCAIN
Conservatives are being offered a Hobson’s choice with the presumption that they have no alternative but to vote for the lesser of two evils. Whoever holds that view is sadly mistaken. If John McCain can vote on the basis of principle and conscience over party, so can we. [ RAMM Press Release ]
